EU-kunststofprojecten bundelen hun krachten - "multiplicatoreffect" - om de circulaire economie in Europa te stimuleren.
Op 7 oktober 2019 is de nieuwgevormde groep ‘Plastics Circularity Multiplier’ in de Europese Unie in Brussel gelanceerd. Zo’n twintig Europese innovatiekunststofprojecten zijn samengebundeld met als doel de circulaire kunststofeconomie te stimuleren, met nieuwe zakelijke kansen en werkgelegenheid in Europa. De groep Plastics Circularity Multiplier zal over de EU-gefinancierde innovatieve kunststofprojecten communiceren naar beleidsmakers, industrie, betrokkenen en burgers.
“The investment that the EU is making in the circular economy is on such a scale that it’s vital to communicate what that means for the environment, citizens, businesses and cities across the continent,” said Alexandre Dangis of DEMETO, the project leading the group.
“With the initial participation of 19 projects, the Plastics Circularity Multiplier will look to boost our impact, but also identify the regulatory barriers to be overcome and the investment needed if we are to put in place a truly circular economy for plastics in the EU,” added Mr Dangis.
In de zomer 2020 wordt een conferentie in Brussel georganiseerd waar de samenwerkingsresultaten van de groep Plastics Circularity Multiplier worden besproken. Vanaf september 2020 wordt deelname aan de activiteiten van de Plastics Circularity Multiplier groep verder opengesteld voor alle lopende EU-projecten, hetzij in Horizon 2020 of in het nieuwe Horizon Europa-kaderprogramma.
As Alexandre Dangis explains, “The group aims to complement existing resources set up by the EU institutions, such as the European Circular Economy Stakeholder Platform, the EASME Project Data Base, and the ‘Innovation Radar’ – all designed to engender a veritable ecosystem of EU investments in the circular economy and innovation.”
De EuPC is beheerder van het initiatief en verzorgt de communicatie van het DEMETO- project, met inbegrip van andere Horizon 2020-projecten op het gebied van circulaire kunststofeconomie.
